Recruitment at 4th Corner

In preparation for the summer months, our Human Resources department has been incredibly busy with placing recruitment advertisements and meeting applicants.

Following an interview with HR, potential candidates are invited for a two-day trial in either our grounds maintenance, soft landscaping, or Banbury Town Council teams. Once it has been agreed that a trialist has been successful and we want to bring them on board, we have a number of systems in place to encourage their successful assimilation into the 4th Corner team.

New recruits will first undertake a short induction to complete the necessary paperwork and Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMS). Then, the department head will run through the relevant health and safety routines.

It has become evident that any new employees should have in-depth training on our online systems to eliminate any accidents and worries that they may have.

Starter assessments are now firmly established and work to identify any training needs that an individual might have.

Health and safety training is booked for new starters once they have completed their three-month probation period. Our staff first complete ROLO training, which covers all aspects of health and safety in the workplace. This might include fire safety, manual handling, lone working, and accident prevention. They then complete Emergency First Aid at Work training, which is held locally in Adderbury with Fat Panda.

Any further external training is booked according to the needs of the business. We have recently booked qualifying staff on weed spraying, digger and polesaw training courses, and are currently in the process of booking staff on wood chipper training in preparation for the impending autumn season.
