The developer of a new, 240-berth narrow boat Marina at Cropredy in Oxfordshire found our website whilst traveling in Canada! He needed local landscapers who could quickly ‘green up’ the newly dug Marina before winter set in. We agreed a planting scheme with the owner that would involve several phases, taking the time of year and the readiness of each of the two stages of the Marina development into account. In Phase 1, we created an immediate impact by laying new grass turf around the amenity area. In Phase 2, we planted several acres of grass and wild meadow seed, completing the work just before the end of September (helped along by favourable weather). In Phase 3, we took advantage of the time of year (November/ December) to plant native bare root trees – such as Quercus robur (English Oak), Salix alba (White Willow) and Prunus avium (Wild Cherry) – and native hedging across the site. Now in its fourth year, all phases have matured and are thriving. We are successfully maintaining this important and impressive Marina in Cropredy for the benefit of boating users and the local community.
